How to watch Manchester United vs Manchester City: TV channel, kick-off times & more
Manchester United begin their 2024/25 campaign this weekend with a clash against Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley.
The Reds completed their pre-season tour last week and are now closing in on the new Premier League campaign.
Beforehand, Erik ten Hag’s side have the chance to face their rivals at Wembley for the second time in three months after winning the FA Cup final against Pep Guardiola’s men in May.
United will likely use this game as further fitness for those who have not had much of a pre-season due to their international commitments, but they will also be desperate to win to kickstart the season on a high note.
Players like Amad Diallo, who impressed on the pre-season tour, will be keen to perform in order to further solidify their places in the team to face Fulham next week.
The full details of how to watch the upcoming clash against Man City can be read below.
Kick-off time and venue
After learning what it is like for international fans this summer, staying up until the early hours of the morning to watch the US pre-season games, we are back to normality this weekend with a 15:00 BST kick-off time.
Of course, the game will take place at Wembley Stadium in London, where United won 2-1 against their rivals in the FA Cup final last term.
TV Channel
In the United Kingdom, the Community Shield will be available to watch on ITV 1, ITVX and STV. Meanwhile, international coverage can be found here.
The UtdDistrict X account will also cover the fixture, providing quotes from Ten Hag and the players before and after the match.
Latest team news
United are entering this clash with several players short of any match fitness. Joshua Zirkzee, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Altay Bayındır, Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martínez and Facundo Pellistri have had no pre-season minutes with the Reds.
Ten Hag could try one of two things with those players: start them and try to get as many minutes as possible before replacing them, or bring them off the bench in the second half. He could attempt both for different players.
Meanwhile, Leny Yoro and Rasmus Højlund remain unavailable due to an injury sustained during the pre-season tour. Harry Maguire missed the final game of the tour due to precaution, so could be back available for this tie.
The same was said for Victor Lindelöf, who was replaced midway through that game against Liverpool. Academy defender Will Fish was forced off with a serious injury.
