Ruud van Nistelrooy has taken over as interim manager, while Rúben Amorim waits in the wings to become the club’s new head during the November international break.
United’s last result was a thumping 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup as the Old Trafford outfit booked themselves into the competition’s quarter-final stage, where they will face Tottenham Hotspur in London.
The Premier League have confirmed the match officials for the Sunday afternoon event.
Confirmed officials
Robert Jones (pictured below) will be the referee on Sunday afternoon in Manchester. Jones has officiated six Premier League matches this season, four in Europe, and one Carabao Cup tie.
Coote has already met United, having refereed their 1-0 win over Fulham on the season’s opening day. He most recently covered Tottenham’s 2-1 win against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
So far, Jones has issued 31 yellow cards in the Premier League this season and two reds, one due to two yellow cards. He has also awarded two penalties in the competition: for Bournemouth against Arsenal and for Nottingham Forest against Brighton.
Lee Betts and Neil Davies will be on the sidelines as Jones’ assistant referees during the game. Tom Bramall, who held the fourth official job and shared a technical area with Van Nistelrooy for the West Ham loss, has again been handed the role, separating Van Nistelrooy and Enzo Maresca on Sunday afternoon.
Michael Salisbury has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee. Nick Hopton will act as assistant VAR.
