Rasmus Højlund is expected to be one of six changes as Rúben Amorim selects his Manchester United starting line-up in the Premier League against Bournemouth.

Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United squad are set to return to Premier League action, determined to climb from 13th place in the table.

Their most recent match saw them eliminated from the Carabao Cup in a dramatic 4-3 quarter-final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Despite the loss, the team’s spirited performance offered plenty of encouragement.

In the league, United are coming off a remarkable 2-1 triumph over rivals Manchester City at the Etihad. Late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo turned the game on its head, securing a vital and morale-boosting victory.

Next up, United host Bournemouth at Old Trafford, aiming to close the six-point gap to Nottingham Forest, who currently occupy the last Champions League qualification spot.

Amorim predicted to make six Man United changes

Amorim may make up to six changes from the side that started in North London, with the first coming as André Onana replaces Altay Bayındır in goal following the Turkish international’s multiple mistakes in midweek.

As for United’s back three, Victor Lindelöf exited the field early due to injury, and it’s thought that as long as Matthijs de Ligt has recovered from illness, he will start on Sunday afternoon.

Leny Yoro’s 90 minutes against Tottenham make him unlikely to play from the offset, meaning Harry Maguire may return to the fold, with Lisandro Martínez playing on the left of defence as he’s the only left-footed centre-back in the squad.

Maguire would likely play in the middle, with De Ligt on the right and Martínez on the left, just like against Manchester City. On the flanks, Noussair Mazraoui may start on the right, with Tyrell Malacia on the left.

In midfield, Manuel Ugarte was fantastic against Tottenham and is expected to keep his place, and following Kobbie Mainoo’s great second-half cameo in London, he may well start alongside the Uruguayan.

However, there is always the chance that Amorim may choose to play Casemiro over Ugarte in order to give the 23-year-old some rest after an intense few games.

In attack, Amad Diallo is expected to return on the right following his goal and assist against Spurs, while the ever-present Bruno Fernandes may continue on the left.

Rasmus Højlund has started the side’s last two games up front but has failed to impress, and Joshua Zirkzee’s goal and good display in the second half against Tottenham makes him a contender to play as striker.

Man United’s expected line-up vs Bournemouth

Onana, De Ligt, Maguire, Martínez, Mazraoui, Ugarte, Mainoo, Amad, Fernandes, Zirkzee.
