Who is Manchester United vs Bournemouth referee? Premier League officials confirmed
Everything you need to know is who officiates Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United squad are set to return to Premier League action as they aim to climb from 13th place in the table.
Their most recent outing saw them bow out of the Carabao Cup at the quarter-final stage after a thrilling 4-3 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Despite the result, the performance offered plenty of positives to build on.
In league action, United are coming off a sensational 2-1 away victory against arch-rivals Manchester City. Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo produced moments of brilliance late on to completely turn the game around.
Next up, Amorim’s men will welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford. United currently trail Nottingham Forest, who hold the last Champions League qualification spot, by six points.
The Premier League have confirmed who will officiate the Sunday afternoon tie.
Confirmed officials
Craig Pawson (pictured below) will be the referee on Sunday afternoon in Manchester. Pawson has officiated nine Premier League matches this season, four in UEFA competitions and a further two in the Championship.
Pawson has met United once this season, officiating the side’s 2-1 loss against Brighton at the Amex Stadium earlier on this campaign.
So far this season, Pawson has issued 37 yellow cards in the Premier League and 58 across all competitions. He has issued two red cards, one in the league, and three penalties across all competitions.
Nick Hopton and Akil Howson will serve as Pawson’s assistant referees during the game. On Sunday afternoon, Oliver Langford will serve as the fourth official, separating Amorim and Andoni Iraola.
Darren England has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee. Eddie Smart will act as assistant VAR.
