Agent confirms 200k p/w Manchester United star had multiple Premier League offers in January
Antony’s agent has confirmed that the Manchester United player had offers from Premier League clubs before he joined Real Betis on loan last month.
Manchester United’s 2025 winter transfer window has drawn criticism from fans after the club failed to address key areas of Rúben Amorim’s squad.
While United strengthened their defence with the signings of Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven, the lack of attacking reinforcements has left supporters frustrated.
At the same time, three first-team forwards—Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Ethan Wheatley—departed on loan, along with several Academy players seeking more game time elsewhere.
One positive is the signing of highly rated left-back Diego Leon, who will officially join United on 1 July after completing the season with Cerro Porteño in Paraguay.
Antony had offers from Premier League clubs
While many United fans were glad to see that Antony had been moved on for the rest of the campaign following a disappointing two and a half years at the club, Antony has thrived since he joined La Liga side Betis.
The player has been handed two Player of the Match awards and scored a lovely goal against Gent during a 3-0 Conference League win, and he has been very vocal about how happy he is to be in Spain.
Further, his agent, Junior Pedroso, has told GiveMeSport that the winger also had offers from the Premier League, as well as the Saudi Pro League, but that they felt Betis was his best option.
“I can tell you that clubs from England also wanted Antony, he had the chance to stay in the Premier League, but we preferred Real Betis,” Pedroso explained.
“I can also reveal that Saudi Pro League clubs approached us over potential moves. It was another option but Spain was the best possible for the player.”
Antony one of several players thriving outside Old Trafford
With Antony, who earns around £200,000 a week at United, having performed very well since he left Old Trafford, many have pointed out that he is joining a long list of players who perform well once they exit United.

Those such as Anthony Elanga, Anthony Martial, and Scott McTominay are three players who have hit fresh heights since exiting Old Trafford, and Amorim explained earlier this week he feels a reason for his is they are joining clubs with a strong core.
I don’t know, sometimes it is like that and it can happen in any club like that,” the 40-year-old said when asked about the trend. “This is a club with a lot of pressure.
“In this kind of club you have to have almost [have] like a base of a team to put in younger players that have come from abroad that come from a team with a strong base, that can help them with dealing with that pressure. In that moment, we do not have that and it is also really hard on them.
“You feel it in Dorgu, he was a little bit nervous in the first moment, but if you are playing better as a team and you have a strong core, that can [help] cope with this and [when] we are winning games and are strong in the games, like it was supposed to be at this kind of club, it will be more easy for this kind of players to be free and play their football.
“Football is like that and when you reach that level, you have to cope with pressure and sometimes they go to other clubs and they are free without the pressure and they play better. I don’t know.”
