Man United “itching” to sell player with non-European club lining up transfer
Manchester United are “itching” to get rid of Antony this summer as a non-European club lines up a potential transfer this summer, according to reports.
Antony‘s time at Manchester United has so far seen him fail to live up to the expectations that his £85 million transfer from Ajax in 2022 brought him.
After Erik ten Hag brought in the player for a huge fee late in the summer window, Antony scored eight goals and provided three assists in 44 appearances during his first season at Old Trafford but has contributed just one goal and one assist in 29 this campaign.
With INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe looking to raise funds in the coming window for a series of new signings, multiple reports have claimed that United are open to offers for the Brazilian winger this summer.
However, according to reports from Brazil, United are not just taking this stance – they are now “itching” to get rid of him this summer as he has lost his place to Alejandro Garnacho.
Adding to the information, Brazilan journalist Julio Miguel Neto has explained that Flamengo are interested in taking on the winger in a one-year loan deal similar to the one that saw Andreas Pereira spend a season playing in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A.
It is said that United see Flamengo as a “good destination” for the winger, but in both reports, the ongoing assault case in Brazil surrounding Antony is seen as a massive problem that could scupper any deal.
A second issue that could weigh against Antony is that he shares an agent with Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa, where there is a “dispute and uneasiness” about a new contract.
