Manchester United ‘tempted’ by last-minute move for “phenomenal” La Liga talent that triggers two other transfers
Manchester United are reportedly tempted to act on a last-minute January deal for a Barcelona forward as Rúben Amorim looks to add to his front line.
Manchester United are determined to bolster their attacking options as Rúben Amorim’s side struggle to deliver consistent performances in front of goal.
The team’s inability to score more than one goal in most matches has become a recurring issue, with their form at Old Trafford being particularly underwhelming. Concerns are mounting as United fail to make their chances count.
Uncertainty over the futures of Joshua Zirkzee, Marcus Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho has intensified the need for reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window.
Despite facing financial pressures, Amorim is expected to urge the club’s board to prioritise attacking additions, aiming to resolve their scoring woes and breathe new life into the forward line.
United tempted by last-minute Fati deal
United have been linked with a number of attacking players across the winter market, with a lot of noise coming surrounding who would replace Garnacho should the 20-year-old sign for Chelsea next week.
According to GiveMeSport, United are now becoming tempted at the possibility of signing Barcelona forward Ansu Fati in the final days of the winter window.
Fati has seen his game time at Barcelona significantly reduced following the emergence of Lamine Yamal at the club, having played just eight times under Hansi Flick so far this campaign despite his “phenomenal” initial seasons at Camp Nou.
According to the report, although United initially ruled out signing Fati on loan this month as they want to focus on bringing in long-term players, this stance may change with the club “desperate” to bring in a new forward this month.
A move for Fati would trigger two further deals
Should United choose to reignite their interest in Fati, which has stretched over a number of seasons in the past, this would allow a domino affect to fall that would trigger a further two deals.
Barcelona are looking to offload players before the end of the winter window to secure Rashford on loan, and Fati heading to United would allow the winger to depart Old Trafford on loan as space would be freed up on their wage list.
Further, should Rashford leave United this month, the club would then be handed a financial boost through a small loan fee and potential reduction on their salary books.
This would then give United further wiggle room in negotiations with Lecce for left wing-back target Patrick Dorgu, with the two clubs within £8 million in their current valuations but United keen to see him join in January.
