Man Utd agreement, Jose Mourinho reacts – Fabrizio Romano reveals latest on Jadon Sancho to Napoli

Fabrizio Romano has revealed the latest on Jadon Sancho’s potential move to Napoli this summer amid the club’s growing need to offload the winger.

Manchester United are focusing on clearing out players this summer as Rúben Amorim begins a full-scale rebuild at Old Trafford.

The club have already secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5 million deal and are continuing talks with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo, though their opening offer of £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons was turned down.

United are still looking to strengthen up front and in midfield, with a new goalkeeper also a possibility. Several departures are already set with contracts expiring at the end of the month, and more are expected as Amorim reshapes the squad.

Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, and Jadon Sancho are all set to leave, while Rasmus Højlund’s future remains up in the air.

Latest on Napoli’s interest in Sancho

In the last few days, there have been multiple reports that Serie A side Napoli are interested in signing Sancho this summer, with the feeling that the Italian league may better suit the winger.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest update, confirming that United and Sancho have agreed that both parties want his exit this summer to be permanent. Additionally, Napoli would not have an issue meeting United’s demands, although they do not want to cover the winger’s salary demands.

“For Jadon Sancho, there are also movements taking place,” Romano said on his YouTube channel. “Manchester United have been clear with the player. They will try to sell him in this first part of the summer transfer window.

“So if they find a permanent transfer proposal, for Man United, it’s the best solution, and also for the player to part ways on a permanent transfer. At the moment, still nothing concrete in terms of advanced negotiations.

“There is interest from Napoli, but Napoli don’t want to cover the whole salary of Jadon Sancho. And Napoli don’t want to cover the whole salary, even in case they sign him on a permanent transfer. So the transfer fee will not be a problem for Napoli, but the salary is too high.

“So either Man United accept Napoli’s conditions, maybe later in the window, or Jadon Sancho has to accept a different salary to join Napoli. Otherwise, it’s going to be a different club.”

Mourinho enters the race for Sancho

Amid Napoli’s hesitancy to match the demands being made by Sancho, Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce have entered into the race.

According to Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Fenerbahçe have now inquired about the conditions it would take to secure Sancho this summer.

While Napoli are hesitant to secure Sancho due to his wages, Turkish clubs have built a reputation of being more flexible with their salary offers, which may work in the winger’s favour.

While Turkey has previously been seen as a destination where older players head to secure one final big contract before retiring, it has also become a destination for younger players, as they still get to feature in European competition.

Sancho’s reputation has taken an almighty hit since he signed for United, but heading to Turkey may be the perfect solution for the winger to start to rebuild himself before heading back to a bigger European club.
