Man United’s training squad ahead of Copenhagen clash revealed with Kobbie Mainoo statement added
Manchester United have confirmed the 24-man training squad at Carrington ahead of Wednesday’s important Champions League fixture against FC Copenhagen.
Erik ten Hag’s side face a tough test going away to Denmark in search of all three points but must succeed if they’re going to progress to the knockout rounds of the competition.
Last time out against the Danish side, United won 1-0 after Andre Onana made a dramatic penalty save in the last moments of the game.
They will not want the game to be so close this time around as they enter an important week so early in their season.
Ten Hag will be boosted by the return of Marcus Rashford, who missed the last game through an injury, as he was seen in training ahead of the encounter. However, both Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri impressed against Fulham and both were also in training.
In defence, the expected players were involved as Raphael Varane will be hoping to return to the starting XI, whilst Aaron Wan-Bissaka trained after his impressive performance in his first start since his injury last time out.
Meanwhile, in midfield, the duo of Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount were involved after both starting on the bench last time out.
Kobbie Mainoo was not spotted in the photos, which led to concerns about the youngster’s fitness. But the club stated: “Kobbie Mainoo was also not among the players training in front of the cameras. However, the young midfielder is fit and it remains to be seen whether he’ll be involved in the senior or Youth League action in Copenhagen.”
He played the last Youth League fixture against Young Boys last month as he was returning to full fitness. The teenager was included on the bench at Craven Cottage but did not get onto the pitch.
Fellow youngster Omari Forson was involved with the squad ahead of a possible inclusion on the plane to Denmark.
The full training squad can be read below, with the travelling squad for the clash expected later on Tuesday.
Full training squad: Onana, Bayındır, Heaton, Maguire, Evans, Wan-Bissaka, Dalot, Lindelöf, Varane, Reguilón, McTominay, Van de Beek, Amrabat, Mount, Hannibal, Fernandes, Eriksen, Rashford, Antony, Højlund, Martial, Forson, Garnacho, Pellistri.
