Manchester United target releases exit statement, “confident” of transfer
One Manchester United transfer target has released a statement following his club exit and the Reds are “confident” of completing a deal.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team are committed to building a young United squad, and they appear poised to sign another highly talented teenager.
Chido Obi Martin, one of the most exciting prospects in the country, was unable to agree on a scholarship deal with Arsenal and is now seeking his next opportunity.
Academy Scoop first reported the story, revealing that Obi Martin had visited Carrington to discuss a potential move to Manchester United this summer.
Renowned journalists David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano also covered the situation, with other reports indicating that United were hopeful of finalising a deal for the 16-year-old.
Obi Martin demonstrated his exceptional talent last season by scoring 32 goals for Arsenal U18s in just 18 games. His standout performances included six hat-tricks and an extraordinary seven-goal game against Norwich.
Academy Scoop has since provided an update on the situation, stating that United are now confident the an agreement can be found with the talented striker.
It was added that a final decision from the player is imminent and that the Dane has told those close to him that his preference is to join the Old Trafford club.
Chido Obi’s exit statement
“I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone at Arsenal for the past four years,” the teenager wrote on Instagram on Monday evening.
“The experiences and growth I’ve achieved here have been truly invaluable.
“A special thanks to the coaches, staff, and teammates at Hale End. The memories made will always be remembered.
“Thank you once again for this journey. I wish everyone continued success and all the best for the future.
“Best Regards, Chido Obi.”
Decision coming
Confirmation of the youngster’s next move is expected very soon but United appear confident of completing the deal.
Chido Obi would likely join up with the club’s under-18s side initially, with a plan to integrate him into the under-21s sooner rather than later.
He is already physically strong and dominant, so it will be interesting to see him play against older age groups next season.
In the long term, United may be getting another extremely talented player who can break into the first team.
