Manchester United star’s agent rules out transfer exit as two new contracts confirmed
Manchester United are looking to sell players in the coming weeks of the transfer window in order to create space for more incomings.
The Reds have signed Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee so far this summer, but Erik ten Hag’s side is still in need of several additions.
In particular, another centre-back and central midfielder are both needed. It is also looking likely that they will try to improve their personnel at fullback.
Several players, including Brazilian winger Antony, have been linked with moves away this summer which could help United generate funds for these potential signings.
Antony joined United in the summer of 2022 for a remarkable £85 million after prolonged negotiations with Ajax.
So far, his performances under Ten Hag have largely been disappointing. Last season, he scored only one Premier League goal despite being a regular starter for much of the campaign.
According to ESPN, the Brazilian winger will be allowed to leave Old Trafford on loan this summer if a club is willing to cover his salary.
However, on Sunday afternoon, Fabrizio Romano had an exclusive interview with the Brazilian winger’s agent, Junior Pedroso, who discussed the player’s future this summer.
“The plan of Antony is to stay at Manchester United. We are not planning for anything else,” Romano relayed.
“We also had a contact with Manchester United and we already discussed about that.”
Meanwhile, this week INEOS have been focused on providing new contracts for some of the young talent that we’ve seen on pre-season so far.
It was reported that Ethan Ennis had earned himself a new deal at Old Trafford earlier this week. He impressed against Rosenborg and Rangers but has not joined the squad on tour.
Another exciting forward talent, Sam Mather, has also been rewarded with fresh terms at the club. According to Fabrizio Romano, the teenager’s new contract runs until June 2027, with an option for a further year.
Mather starred alongside the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho during the FA Youth Cup victory in 2022 and has been included in the pre-season tour squad to the United States.
