Manchester United starlet Shea Lacey has hilariously slammed a “weird” Newcastle supporter for creating a fake transfer report on the 16-year-old winger.

Lacey, 16, is one of the most exciting talents within the ranks at Carrington. He has unfortunately been injured in recent months but is set to return to action soon.

The teenager has often been compared to Manchester City’s Phil Foden in terms of his profile. He joined the United academy at a young age despite being from Liverpool.

However, on Friday evening, some supporters were fooled by an account on social media platform X, which stated that Newcastle United had approached The Reds for Lacey and that the teen wanted to leave – it was soon found to be false information.

The account, hilariously, tried to double-down by faking a direct-message exchange with Lacey, editing that the United player had heart-reacted to a message ‘welcoming’ him to Newcastle.

AcademyScoop, a social media account with direct links to various United youngsters, later shared a message from an Instagram conversation with Lacey, who was aware of the fake messages.

“[I’ve] seen it mate, weird aren’t they,” Lacey wrote, with a laughing face emoji.

Of course, some Newcastle supporters are not quite fond of United right now, and not just because they beat them at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final last term.

Dan Ashworth has been placed on gardening leave at St James’ Park after the sporting director alerted the club that he wants to join the INEOS project at Old Trafford. There is currently a £20 million fee that the Geordies are demanding for United to cut that 20-month-long period short.

New co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe labelled Newcastle’s stance as “completely stupid” after stating that the club had a “grown-up conversation” with Manchester City when Omar Berrada decided to swap for the chief executive role at United.
