Man United starlet receives pre-season tour blow as £35m transfer target revealed

One Manchester United starlet has received a blow ahead of the club’s upcoming pre-season tour.

While United’s current Under-18s squad brims with talent, many have forgotten about last year’s Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year.

Dan Gore, a tenacious central midfielder likened to Roy Keane, shone during last summer’s pre-season tour and made his first-team debut against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup towards the start of last season.

Describing the experience, which coincided with his 19th birthday, he said, “I don’t think words can describe that feeling, seeing the fans, it is everything you’ve dreamed of, coming true.”

In January, he was loaned to Port Vale to gain consistent first-team minutes. Unfortunately, an early injury limited him to just one appearance for the League One side.

Gore returned to United training with the first-team squad at Carrington and was working towards full fitness ahead of next season’s start.

However, the 19-year-old has received yet another injury setback that is set to keep him out of pre-season. The midfielder dislocated his shoulder during a personal training session, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Gore had surgery on his shoulder this week and is now set to start his rehabilitation, with his target being a return to action in the early weeks of the 2024/25 season.

Pre-season would’ve been an excellent time for him to shine in the first-team environment, as international competitions meant that many regulars would be away with their nations, giving the chance to young stars within the club.

Meanwhile, INEOS and the club have found out how much Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez will be in the upcoming transfer window.

It has been reported that United hold interest in the 20-year-old, and now GiveMeSport has revealed that The Cherries would value the defender at £35 million.

United also are expected to face competition from Chelsea, who are also seeking to sign a young left-back for new manager Enzo Maresca.
