“Deal with it…” – Man United star backed to bounce back after terrible Chelsea error
Manchester United lost in agonising fashion against Chelsea on Thursday night but must dust themselves off to face Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds were 3-2 up going into the final minutes of the game after Alejandro Garnacho gave them the lead.
However, two late goals from Cole Palmer switched the game on its head, and Erik ten Hag’s men left Stamford Bridge with nothing.
One of United’s most consistent players of the season in Diogo Dalot had a moment to forget when his slip led to the equalising penalty scored by Palmer.
The Portuguese right-back was operating on the left side and had several difficult moments throughout the game.
Despite the mistake, Ten Hag believes that the defender, who has been one of the few players to be available all season long, can quickly move past the error ahead of the upcoming Liverpool clash.
When asked if Dalot would be able to bounce back, Ten Hag told club media: “Absolutely.
“Diogo is a very resilient character. He will deal with it. I’m sure. But [that] counts for Diogo and for the whole team.
“He was playing a brilliant game but you always get judged by moments and there he makes a mistake.
“He will deal with it. I’m not reserved, I’m sure he will be there on Sunday.”
Dalot has played 40 games for United this term, starting 38 of those games. He has two goals and four assists in that time.
The defender has played among constant changes in the backline, with Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelöf, Lisandro Martínez, Raphaël Varane and Luke Shaw all having injury troubles at one point or another.
