One Manchester United star has been told he needs to take two attributes from Bruno Fernandes to become the “best in the world”.

The Reds have been disappointing this term after a promising start to life under Erik ten Hag last season.

Currently sitting in seventh place in the Premier League, with the FA Cup being the only hope of success this campaign, many things have gone wrong for Ten Hag.

Marcus Rashford’s goalscoring form has been one of those factors. The left-winger carried United’s attack last season with 30 goals.

However, this term, the wide player has just eight goals so far, and he’s been unable to recreate the form that saw him win the club’s Player of the Year award last time out.

There are multiple reasons for this, but BBC journalist Garth Crooks believes that all the United no.10 needs are two attributes that his teammate Bruno Fernandes offers in abundance.

“Whatever you may think of Bruno Fernandes, he does give his heart and soul whenever he plays for Manchester United,” Crooks wrote in his Team of the Week column.

“Bournemouth should and would have wrapped this game up but for the never-say-die attitude of Fernandes.

“Marcus Rashford would be the best player in the world if he had his captain’s appetite and attitude towards the game.”

Rashford has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months; however, that has since been refuted by multiple sources.

The winger will be hoping to improve his form going forward, especially in the new season, but there remain doubts over the England international.

“I have been one of Rashford’s biggest fans over the years,” added Crooks. “But he should be doing for United what Kylian Mbappe is doing for PSG right now, but somehow he seems to have lost the heart for the battle.

“Sure, he does his bit, but he’s far more talented than his recent performances suggest and seems to have lost his way. I’m amazed Fernandes or Casemiro haven’t been able to fire him up or inspire him.

“That said, if you need motivating whenever you put on the red shirt of Manchester United then something has gone terribly wrong.”
