Man United release Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro injury update, it’s terrible news
Manchester United have released updates on Rasmus Højlund and Leny Yoro’s injuries and it is terrible news for the club.
United’s pre-season match against Arsenal on the weekend kicked off at a fast pace, with both teams generating early chances.
Rasmus Højlund opened the scoring within 20 minutes with a powerful run and finish, as Erik ten Hag’s men looked sharp and proactive on the ball. Mason Mount was a standout performer.
However, things quickly unravelled, with both Højlund and Leny Yoro having to come off in the first half due to injuries. The final score ended 2-1 in favour of the North London club.
It has now been confirmed by the club that Yoro will miss around three months of action with a foot injury.
Reports have claimed that the issue is his metatarsal – a similar issue that Lisandro Martínez suffered from beforehand.
Meanwhile, United have also explained that Højlund has a hamstring injury and will be unavailable for around six weeks.
This is quite simply terrible news for the Reds, with initial reports suggesting that neither injury would be this serious.
Joshua Zirkzee will need to hit the ground running, and United will also need to speed up their pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt.
This is a major setback for Yoro, who showed such promise in his first two appearances. The young defender reportedly wanted to remain on tour with the squad.
Meanwhile, this follows a worrying trend of injuries that Højlund has picked up since signing for the club last summer.
Ten Hag’s team suffered with a ridiculous amount of injuries last season and this is not a good start ahead of the new campaign.
United have one fixture left in pre-season, against Liverpool in South Carolina, before they return to England and play Manchester City at Wembley Stadium in the 2024 Community Shield. They will face Fulham on the opening day of the Premier League season on Friday, 16 August.
