Manchester United are planning to sign yet another wonderkid in the January transfer window after securing Chido Obi-Martin and Sekou Kone this summer.

The Reds have secured four first-team signings so far this summer in Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro, and Joshua Zirkzee. They are looking to add Manuel Ugarte to that group.

However, there have also been some extremely exciting signings made for the future in recent weeks.

Chido Obi-Martin was secured at the end of last month after the 16-year-old starlet failed to agree scholarship terms with Arsenal despite scoring 32 goals last season for their U18s.

He will be an exciting forward player to come into the academy at Carrington, and some reports have explained that the potential pathway to first-team football was a huge lure in getting him to agree to sign with United.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano revealed this week that the Reds have secured the highly talented defensive midfielder Sekou Kone for £1 million plus performance-based add-ons.

Kone, 18, will initially start with the club’s U21s side but with a view of becoming a first-team regular in the future.

There is another extremely talented midfield player that the club are hoping to sign, and they played against him this summer.

Before Erik ten Hag’s side jetted off to the United States for their pre-season tour, they travelled to Norway to face Rosenborg in a friendly game.

It was 17-year-old midfielder Sverre Halseth Nypan from the Norwegian team who captured the attention of many observers who watched that encounter.

The young talent delivered a standout performance in the first half and reports earlier this summer explained that United are interested in signing him once he turns 18 in December.

They cannot sign the midfield talent due to his age and the rules brought in post-Brexit, but they can make their move after his next birthday. He jokingly shared a “Here We Go” to United on his Instagram story in the summer.

Christopher Michel also stated after that friendly game that United were expected to enter discussions with Rosenborg about a potential transfer for Nypan.

Ten Hag has already demonstrated a willingness to provide opportunities to talented youth players at Old Trafford and Nypan could be another exciting prospect to come into the fold.
