Man United icon tells player to ‘completely transform’ struggling career through one key moment
Dimitar Berbatov has explained how one Manchester United player would be able to ‘completely transform’ his Old Trafford career so far with one moment.
The Reds have struggled so far this season as Erik ten Hag ponders how to turn things around.
Around the corner is an away clash against Liverpool, and with their last visit to Anfield ending in 7-0 dispair, United will be wondering how to approach the game this time around.
Ten Hag’s attack have not been firing and striker Rasmus Hojlund is yet to score in the Premier League despite netting five in the Champions League before the club’s exit from the competition.
Hojlund’s struggles have stemmed from a lack of service, with some describing the Dane as ‘starved’ upfront for United.
However, Dimitar Berbatov believes that if the striker is able to score his first league goal for the club in this historic derby, his Old Trafford career could be ignited.
I sincerely hope Rasmus can be the guy in that game to score because the moment he scores, I bet you everything. You will see the emotions on his face just pouring out, and he sees how much weight, pressure, and everything he waited for that moment,” the ex-United striker told the Manchester Evening News.
“If it comes against Liverpool… oh my God. That would be unbelievable. And it’s going to be a great story. So, I sincerely hope that he can find the back of the net.
“One goal can change everything. One goal at the right moment against the right team can completely transform you and make you a better player. Release you from that burden of just constantly thinking about where I’m going to score, when, and how.”
Hojlund has been considered one of the club’s better players in this season but Berbatov also has suggested for the no.11 to work smarter rather than harder in moments.
