Man United fans will be excited by Ruben Amorim’s praise of one star after Arsenal defeat
Manchester United fans will be excited by Ruben Amorim’s praise of one star following the 2-0 defeat against Arsenal on Wednesday.
Ruben Amorim experienced his first loss as Manchester United manager on Wednesday evening, with the Reds falling to Arsenal after conceding two set-piece goals at the Emirates Stadium.
This defeat followed two wins against Everton and Bodo/Glimt, as well as a draw with newly promoted Ipswich Town.
While results have been mixed, Amorim is gaining valuable insights into his squad and has shown promising progress in implementing his new system.
He would’ve also been happy to be able to bring 19-year-old Leny Yoro into the game for his competitive United debut.
The French centre-back joined the club from Lille in the summer but has been injured since a pre-season fixture against Arsenal. He came off the bench against the Gunners on Wednesday.
His display was promising and he showed brilliant one-versus-one ability against Leandro Trossard shortly after coming on.
Fans are excited to see the teenager coming into the backline, as he fits the wide centre-back role perfectly for Amorim’s style.
“Of course, Leny Yoro, you can feel the talent,” Amorim told talkSPORT after defeat at the Emirates Stadium.
“The speed, the way he handled one against one, in a very difficult stadium. [After] a lot of time without playing, you can see the quality.”
It is no surprise that the new head coach is a big fan of Yoro and United could see their defensive levels improve in the coming weeks.
Harry Maguire also had a solid display in his first start since early-October and he will be another option for Amorim to use in that back three.
Focus now turns to Nottingham Forest, who travel to Old Trafford on Saturday evening for another Premier League clash.
