Donny van de Beek completed his loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this week and has started training ahead of the Bundesliga return.

Unlike in England, clubs in Germany have a break over the Christmas period and are now looking ahead to a return to league action next weekend.

That provides Van de Beek a chance to start gelling with his teammates and impressing the coaches as he searches for minutes whilst on loan.

After signing for Manchester United for around £40 million from Ajax in 2020, Van de Beek has started just four league games for the club and only a handful of cup ties too.

His chances at Old Trafford were extremely limited whilst Bruno Fernandes, the club’s most important player over that time, was playing and rarely getting injured.

Van de Beek has since admitted that the last few years at United have been ‘tough’, and he will now be looking to turn a corner and get back to playing football over the next six months with Frankfurt.

The German club uploaded a training video focused on their new signing this week. The two-minute clip followed Van de Beek through the shooting and team-passing drills on the training pitch, as well as meeting supporters afterwards.

Many United supporters found the clip and had similar reactions as they hope the Dutch player can find form in Germany after his difficult time at United.

“I really hope he turns his career around. Really likeable player,” said one account.

Another posted: “Take care of this lad, didn’t get his chance at United hopefully finds his feet here.”

“I’m glad he’s smiling again because this boy can play ball,” a third wrote.

Van de Beek’s first chance of action for Frankfurt comes on Saturday afternoon as they face SC Freiburg in a friendly game ahead of the Bundesliga return against RB Leipzig next weekend.
