Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is said to be on ‘red-alert’ as Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch could leave Bayern Munich in the last days of the transfer window.

The Reds have had a difficult beginning to their Premier League campaign, with poor performances against both Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur so far. They were fortunate to collect three points in their season opener but were caught out in North London.

Ten Hag’s midfield is still a topic of concern, with the addition of Mason Mount seeming to adjust the dynamic in the engine room. Whether or not it clicks, United still need additions.

And one of those potential additions could be Ten Hag’s former Ajax teenage star Ryan Gravenberch.

The now-21-year-old is going into his second season at Bayern Munich and could be considering his future due to a lack of playing time at Allianz Arena. He started just three Bundesliga games last season.

It was reported by Simon Mullock of The Mirror on Monday morning that both United and rivals Liverpool have tabled offers for the Dutch midfielder, who remains a big admirer of Erik ten Hag.

It was added that Bayern Munich value their midfielder at around £22 million – but that a more likely compromise would be a loan deal. The German club had told Gravenberch that they did not want to lose him when United and Liverpool made enquiries earlier this summer.

However, since then he has been left on the bench, as an unused substitute, in their German Super Cup loss against RB Leipzig and their opening day victory against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. And the player has now decided to seek more guarantees about minutes on the pitch.

These developments have been said to put Ten Hag and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on ‘red-alert’ and following reports suggest that a move could be possible in the last weeks of the transfer window.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has stated that the German champions are no longer ruling out the departure of Gravenberch this summer. He added that two Premier League clubs – reported elsewhere to be Liverpool and United – are interested in a deal.

Gravenberch emerged into the Ajax first-team under Ten Hag and played 47 games under the now-United boss during the 2020/21 campaign as an 18-year-old. That form in Amsterdam led to him signing for Bayern Munich but the move has not gone to plan.

It was added by Sky Sports that United’s desire get a midfield addition in the closing days of the window will likely depend on departures and that well-reported target Sofyan Amrabat is another option the club are looking at.
