Manchester United have clear £42m decision to make after new contract confirmed
Manchester United seemingly have a clear £42 million transfer decision to make after a new contract was also confirmed.
United have already signed two players so far this summer, with Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro being confirmed as new signings.
They are also searching for another centre-back in the window, according to multiple reports, and one name has stood out more than most.
According to Sky Germany, though, the Reds have so far offered significantly less than the reported £33 million for Matthijs de Ligt, who appears to be the main target for the position.
It was added that Bayern Munich have rejected every offer so far and are firm about not negotiating a lower fee than their £42 million plus bonuses demand.
United have reportedly been interested in the Dutchman for several weeks now and it seems clear that Bayern will not budge in their pricing of the defender.
That leaves INEOS with a clear decision to make. Dan Ashworth, Omar Berrada and the team at Old Trafford need to decide whether a £42 million deal is worth it for the 24-year-old.
Meanwhile, the club have managed to tie down one of their most talented prospects to a new contract this week.
Reports revealed that 19-year-old winger Ethan Ennis has signed on new terms ahead of the new campaign.
The teenager will also be named in Erik ten Hag’s squad for the upcoming United States tour, alongside other young talent such as Toby Collyer.
Ennis has had difficulties since moving from Liverpool in 2021. A serious knee injury in 2022 left him out of action for around 14 months. He has played in both pre-season fixtures so far this summer after recovering from the injury last term.
Now, he will be keen to show Ten Hag what he can do in America, with games against Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool lined up.
