Manchester United chiefs are reportedly ‘concerned’ about two players after their ‘ill-thought-out’ deals.

Manchester United‘s behind-the-scenes structure has seen significant changes as part of the INEOS reshuffle, including Dan Ashworth joining as sporting director.

The likes of Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox were also brought into key positions in the hierarchy.

Despite the whirlwind of their first transfer window in charge, Ashworth and the recruitment team were pleased with their work during the transfer window.

Five first-team additions were made to Erik ten Hag’s squad in Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Leny Yoro while several large sales were also made.

However, the club are still catching up on making amends for the poor work done by the previous regime run by the Glazer family.

United chiefs concerned about the impact of two deals

According to a new ESPN report, there are concerns at United about the ongoing financial impact of the deals that brought in Brazilian duo Antony and Casemiro.

Both players were signed in the final weeks of the 2022 summer window after United had started the season with back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Brentford.

The report says there is a feeling within the club that the panic afterwards contributed to ‘ill-thought-out’ agreements with Ajax and Real Madrid.

United were initially quoted around £40 million for Antony but ended up paying more than £80 million for the winger, who has underperformed ever since his Old Trafford move.

United confident about financial position

Despite posting huge financial losses for last season, the club say they remain in compliance with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) and Uefa’s financial regulations.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has focused on cutting costs since he took over in February, which included forcing almost a quarter of the club’s workforce out.

United are also reportedly interested in appointing Marc Armstrong, the chief revenue officer at Paris St-Germain, to become the club’s new chief business officer.
