Manchester United’s academy has been grabbing a lot of attention in recent weeks, and Gabriele Biancheri could be another youngster to look out for.

Biancheri, 17, joined the Old Trafford club from Cardiff City in February last year for a six-figure fee. The highly-rated teenager has slotted into the Under-18s side at Carrington.

With three goals and two assists in just six league appearances – only three of which have been starts – the Welsh forward has played his part in Adam Lawrence’s side winning 10 out of 10 so far this term.

According to MailOnline, Biancheri is ‘winning rave reviews’ behind the scenes at United and the youngster has been working hard over the Christmas period, where the under-18s have a break, to prepare himself for the second half of the season.

The aforementioned report added that the Welsh youngster teamed up to train with two-time super-featherweight boxing world champion Joe Cordina.

It was added that the pair have become good friends and were putting each other through ‘gruelling’ sand dune endurance drills at Merthyr Mawr in South Wales.

The United youngster went to play in the Mercedes Benz Junior Cup earlier this week for the Under-19s side. He scored as The Reds finished fifth in the table.

Biancheri signed on professional terms at Old Trafford in September last year. It was agreed in his initial scholarship when joining from Cardiff that he would sign professionally when he turned 17.

“Very proud moment for me and my family signing my first professional contract,” said the youngster.

United’s under-18s side return to league action this weekend with an away clash against Newcastle before their attention turns back to the FA Youth Cup.

The Reds won 1-0 in their third-round win over Derby County at Old Trafford and face Swindon Town’s youth side away from home on the 16 January.
