The latest injury news as Rúben Amorim prepares his side to face Bodo/Glimt during his first Old Trafford fixture as Manchester United manager.

Rúben Amorim prepares for his second match as Manchester United head coach on Thursday evening, following a 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town in his debut.

The Europa League clash with Bodo/Glimt will be Amorim’s first game in the Old Trafford dugout since his appointment earlier this month.

Currently, United are 15th in the Europa League table, three points adrift of the top eight spots that guarantee automatic progression to the next stage.

With one win and three draws in the competition so far, the team faces a crucial challenge in their remaining four group-stage matches to avoid a play-off round before the knockout stages begin next year.

Amorim’s injury latest

Speaking in his recent press conference, Amorim confirmed the latest on two of his centre-backs, Lisandro Martínez and Harry Maguire, as the pair returned to training on Wednesday morning.

“Not Harry. Licha is ready,” Ruben replied when asked if the pair could play on Thursday evening.

“He didn’t stop [playing] too much time so I feel he is ready. It is a different situation with Harry, we need them both but they are in a different situation. They are both training, Harry soon will be on the pitch also.”

Further, he was asked about Yoro’s fitness. Although the 19-year-old has been in training, he was not spotted on Wednesday, although it has been confirmed that this was a deliberate measure as part of his continuing rehabilitation process.

“He is available to train but we are working on his fitness. This is important,” Amorim said.

“He is a young guy, this is a massive club. It’s very important the first image, so we will try to put it together because he’s a great talent. We believe a lot in him and we are trying to prepare the best way to start with Leny.”

Other absentees

Beyond Yoro, there were three other absentees for the open training session on Wednesday morning.

Victor Lindelöf remains out after suffering an injury with Sweden during the international break, and his current return timeline is unknown.

Toby Collyer is also still recovering from an injury he succumbed to in October, while Jonny Evans was not spotted in training, and no update was given as to why.

During his press conference, the 39-year-old was also keen to point out that fans should expect rotation and changes to the side that faces Bodo/Glimt as training schedules collide with games.

“They [the squad] is already split,” he said. “If Bruno [Fernandes] plays tomorrow, he cannot train for two days. He can only train slowly. Some of the guys will field the game, some of the guys will train the next day.”
