Manchester City have two fresh injury problems following their preparation as they host Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola has explained that his side have two injury problems ahead of the Manchester United clash as Manchester City welcome Erik ten Hag‘s men to the Etihad Stadium.

In his pre-match press conference, Guardiola admitted that Jack Grealish will not be available to play this weekend.

“He will not be fit this weekend,” explained the Spanish manager. “When he comes back, I don’t know. Setbacks are always there in life. He will overcome it.”

Kevin De Bruyne has had questions surrounding his fitness in the last week. However, he played a full ninety minutes as City defeated Luton Town 6-2 in the FA Cup on Tuesday evening – but it remains unknown if he has regained enough fitness to start back-to-back games considering his long-term injury earlier this season.

The sole remaining fitness issue for the City seems to revolve around defender Josko Gvardiol. Guardiola, however, expressed appreciation for an additional 24 hours of preparation ahead of the afternoon kick-off.

This extended timeframe comes as United fought with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Wednesday.

“Tuesday to Sunday is a dream,” he admitted. “Saturday to Tuesday, with trips, is a problem. The players were extraordinary against Luton. Two days off and now prepare against United.”
