Mainoo, Maguire, Yoro – Full Manchester United injury update vs Nottingham Forest, two returns now “expected”

Two Manchester United players are now “expected” to return as a full injury update on Rúben Amorm’s squad is issued ahead of a Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest.

After a two-week break for international fixtures, Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United side are returning to action as they travel to face Nottingham Forest away from home in the Premier League on Tuesday, 1 April.

United found themselves in good form prior to the international break, defeating Real Sociedad twice, thumping Leicester City 3-0 and drawing 1-1 with Arsenal.

Bruno Fernandes has been in particularly fantastic form, scoring five goals and providing two assists in his last three appearances for Amorim.

While the Forest game represents a perfect chance for United to pick up where they left off, Amorim will no doubt also be keeping one eye on the upcoming Manchester Derby and two-legged Europa League quarter-final clash against Olympique Lyonnais over the next few weeks.

Two players “expected” to return soon

In the last few months, Amorim has had to deal with a host of devastating injury blows, although the March international break has offered his squad respite, with multiple players expected to return in the next few weeks.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the pending returns of Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount are “expected” to happen soon, with Mount already involved in the matchday squad against Leicester City, although he did not feature.

Mount has been unavailable for the last three months due to a hamstring issue sustained in December against City.

Meanwhile, Mainoo has been out for around two months after sustaining a calf problem in training, with rumours flying that he has already returned to the squad.

Updates on the rest of United’s injured players

Further, a separate MEN report has stated that centre-back Ayden Heaven has a chance of returning to training this week after his injury against Leicester, despite initial fears that he had suffered a more significant issue.

Centre-back Harry Maguire is said to be targetting the Firest fixture as the date for his return to the matchday squad, while it was also stated those within the club feel this coming week will be used to assess several players’ availabilities for the forthcoming tie.

This will include Leny Yoro, Tom Heaton, and Luke Shaw, although there is yet to be a formal update on the latter after Amorim said the English defender was “going to be back soon” following the victory over Leicester.

Lisandro Martínez and Jonny Evans remain out of action for a sustained period, while there is still no update on the fitness of Altay Bayındır, who has been absent for almost two months.

Amad recently sent social media into a positive frenzy after posting a cryptic message that included a grinning emoji and hour-glass emoji. Some pointed out that this may be hinting he could return sooner than expected.

Patrick Dorgu will return to the matchday squad after serving a three-game domestic ban following a straight red card against Ipswich Town earlier this month.
