Manchester United are fully expected to recruit in the forward department this season following a lacklustre season in front of goal.
The Red Devils currently sit in 13th place with a minus three goal difference in the Premier League and have at times this season struggled massively in the final third.
United have relied mostly on captain Bruno Fernandes (8), Injured Amad Diallo (6), and winger Alejandro Garnacho (4) for goals this season. Both strikers Joshua Zirkzee (3) and Rasmus Højlund (3) have had poor goalscoring returns.
With the summer transfer window rapidly nearing ex-United striker Louis Saha has had his say in an exclusive interview with Genting Casino, the Frenchman, who scored 28 goals in 86 appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson, hinted at who his previous club must approach for “guaranteed goals.”
Saha wants Galatasaray’s Striker
The Victor Osimhen speculation has been ongoing for quite some time as it has been rumoured that the striker is unfavored at his parent club club, Napoli, due to a transfer dispute. So much so that during the summer arrival of manager Antonio Conte, Osihmen was sent on loan to Galatasaray and Romelu Lukaku was brought in.
“I think I really like Osihmen. Amorim needs top-quality players, not just ones that are in form,” Saha told GentingCasino.
“Now they (United) need players who are really established at the top level, that theyre primed to improve and make another step up. You need guys that will give guaranteed goals.”
“And we’ve seen a few players being in good form, signing for Manchester United and not performing, and not being able to actually get the standard we expected to play with.”
Is Osimhen the answer for Amorim?
The 26-year-old has been colossal for the Turkish outfit this season, leading the charge in the golden boot charge with 20 goals as Gala occupy the top of the Super Lig.
The Nigerian cemented his legacy in Italian football after leading Napoli to their first title in 33 years. He became the first African to win the Italian golden boot, with 26 goals to his name.
United currently has three young strikers leading the line in Zirkzee, Højlund, and Chido Obi, with the latter only seeing rare glimpses of play.
Zirkzee and Højlund, although still early in their careers, have not stepped up in terms of goal returns, meaning an experienced striker signing would be an obvious move for Amorim.
The Portuguese boss had a remarkable relationship with Swedish striker Victor Gyökeres at Sporting CP, who has scored 83 goals in Portugal since joining from Coventry City. It may be expected that Gyökeres is Amorim’s number one choice, but with the Swede holding a rumoured price tag of £85 million, Osimhen may be the better-suited option.
