Fabrizio Romano has explained the truth behind the rumours linking Manchester United with a potential move for Karim Adeyemi.
Manchester United bolstered their forward line in the summer with three major signings. Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha all joined the club for big money.
Despite this, the Reds remain open to signing another attacking player next year, with Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo one of the reported targets.
There have also been rumours surrounding a potential deal for Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi, who is known for his blistering pace.
While the priority remains to improve the midfield depth at Old Trafford, it seems like a signing on the flanks is also a possibility.
Romano explains Adeyemi to United truth
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that United are looking at this kind of profile for next year, with the Italian journalist revealing four demands the club have for this signing.
But he also has explained that there is not yet anything in the rumours surrounding Adeyemi, even if he is a player who fits the mould of player they are looking for.
“Man United are looking at that kind of player, so a player who can play as a winger, as a number 10, let’s say behind the striker, and be electric, be skilful, be talented, be fast, as Karim Adeyemi is very fast,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“So for sure, Man United are following several players with those skills, and Adeyemi is one of the best in Europe when it’s about this.
“But as of today, if you ask me, are Manchester United negotiating with the agents of Adeyemi? Are Manchester United negotiating with Borussia Dortmund for a January transfer?
“From what I’m told, at this stage of the year, Man United have not started a concrete negotiation, a concrete discussion for Karim Adeyemi.”
United need that profile
While United have got a strong attack now, an out-and-out left winger is missing in the first-team squad following on from the departures of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.
Even though that is not a position needed in Amorim’s system, you need that type of player in your squad no matter what.
Whether that be due to a change in shape or being able to use attacking players at wingback, United could do with that kind of player and it would be no surprise to see them sign someone in that area.
Cunha is the player who starts as the left-sided no.10 but he is not a direct winger. There doesn’t seem to be an obvious option in that position within the Under-21s either.
