Liverpool star offers huge praise for Manchester United player who excelled in FA Cup win
One Liverpool star has offered huge praise for a Manchester United player who excelled in last season’s FA Cup win.
Alexis Mac Allister joined Liverpool in the summer of 2023 from Brighton and was also linked with a United move at the time.
The midfielder excelled during the 2022 World Cup, in which Argentina won, and also was a key player during their 2024 Copa America victory.
Lisandro Martínez was also crucial for his country this summer, with Lionel Scanoli’s side not conceding a goal through the tournament while he was on the pitch.
However, Alejandro Garnacho also travelled with the squad, and while he only made one appearance during the Copa America, Mac Allister believes that the United star is one of the key players for Argentina’s future.
Speaking to AFA Estudio, as per Sport Witness, the Liverpool midfielder was asked about another Argentine youngster, Valentin Carboni, who was also part of the group this summer.
“He (Carboni) played little, but in training, he showed what he was worth; I think he earned the respect of the team group,” he said.
“He and Garnacho are two players who can give a lot to Argentina. We have a lot of hope for their future. We can load them with a lot of expectations right now, but in the future, they will give us a lot.”
Of course, Mac Allister was involved in last term’s iconic FA Cup clash between Liverpool and United, in which Garnacho starred. The Liverpool midfielder scored their first goal of the game.
Yet, the 20-year-old winger was directly involved in three of the four goals for the hosts, with a goal-winning assist for Amad Diallo in the 121st minute of the game.
It was an even more special game considering Erik ten Hag’s side went on to win the FA Cup, with a 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the final at Wembley.
