Lisandro Martinez has issued a statement of intent after his goal was not enough to grab Manchester United a result away to Arsenal.

Martinez defended brilliantly during the fixture, and was buzzing to score his first goal for the club.

“It’s a dream to score my first goal for Manchester United, I’m really happy for that,” he told MUTV. “In the end, it was not the result I wanted, but we have to keep going.

“It was amazing (to celebrate with fans), the fans are incredible, they always support us and are always there for us. The minimum we can do is give everything of us.”

Despite his goal, Martinez says that the squad has to be strong, and said that this kind of end to a game cannot happen again.

“It was tough, for sure. It was hard. We have to be strong, we have to learn from every experience. It cannot happen again. We have to be really focused on the game and kill the game, we have to win.

“We can win the game today, but this kind of game it’s about details, if you’re not on every detail you can’t win. The last minute you lose the game, you have to be focused. We have to score and kill the game.”

Manchester United will next face Nottingham Forest in the first of two legs of the EFL Cup semi-final, with Erik ten Hag aiming to win silverware in his first season at the club.
