Lisandro Martínez provides injury update following Man United’s FA Cup win
Lisandro Martínez has provided an injury update following Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United put on their best display of the season, defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final under Erik ten Hag‘s guidance. Alejandro Garnacho and Player of the Match Kobbie Mainoo scored in the first half, giving United a lead that Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions couldn’t overcome.
Jeremy Doku managed to grab one goal back for City, but they couldn’t break through United’s tactical discipline. Ten Hag’s squad outplayed their rivals and deserved the victory.

One huge reason behind United’s fantastic performance was the return of Lisandro Martínez, who was fantastic at Wembley Stadium in marshalling City’s Erling Haaland on the day.
“For me, it was a really, really tough season, you know, due to my injuries, and it’s all new for me, you know,” Martínez told Sony when asked why he looked exhausted when he was substituted.
“I’ve never been injured in the foot, in the knee, and the calf as well. I was like, wow, this is a dream or what, you know? And I’m now, I’m really strong mentally, physically, today for sure, because I played only against Newcastle, Brighton, and now the final.”
Continuing, Martínez revealed that he came off simply due to a cramp problem, having not played enough minutes to be able to complete a full 90. This will be good news for both United and Argentina, with Martínez set to be included in their 2024 Copa America squad.
“I felt cramp in my leg, so I couldn’t finish the game, that’s why I was unhappy. But I knew that I have my teammates behind me, and they give everything.”
