Lisandro Martínez explains injury recovery method with Man United return date set
Lisandro Martínez has received another injury setback, but the Manchester United defender has already explained his method behind recovery.
Martínez, 26, was forced off the pitch on Sunday afternoon when United won 3-0 against West Ham. He was excellent up until Vladimír Coufal landed on his knee on the touchline.
The defender’s teammates and manager, Erik ten Hag, have already started airing their concerns about the potential injury setback the Argentine could suffer after only recently recovering from surgery on his foot.

“I can’t tell the detail but it seems bad,” Ten Hag said. “We have to wait for the detail and making the right diagnosis in the coming days. We’ll see what is going on. In this moment, we’re very sad about this but, hopefully, it’s not too bad. We can only pray.”
Since then, it has since been confirmed that the defender has a sprained collateral ligament and that United hope to have him back available after the March international break.
Fortunately, Martínez is one player who has the correct mentality and attitude to deal with such adverse situations.
“If anyone has the resolve to deal with a potential setback, it’s this man,” Manchester United’s official X account posted after the injury.
The 26-year-old has already described what is needed in the recovery process of a longer-term injury, citing the importance of patience, his family values and resilience.
“Definitely, we need to be patient, we need to be patient,” he explained whilst out of action earlier in the season. “I know that I will be back soon, very soon. It takes time, we need to be patient.
“It is tough, so tough, especially when you had two injuries, almost six or seven months, it is really, really tough. But I feel strong in my mind. I get really good values from my family, to never give up, so this has only made me even stronger. It is tough, so tough, but there are no excuses.”
