Lisandro Martinez encourages André Onana’s Harry Maguire moment and opens up on his injury
Lisandro Martinez has encouraged more of the moment where Harry Maguire and André Onaan seemed at odds for Manchester United against Borussia Dortmund.
When Manchester United faced Borussia Dortmund in their final pre-season fixture of the USA tour, there was a moment where new goalkeeper André Onana exchanged words with Harry Maguire after the defender made a risky pass.
In a moment of football that was completely normal in a game state, it was made out to be a big issue in the media, which on all accounts is ridiculous.

Speaking on the moment himself, Martinez explained that times like that make a team better, and encourages his fellow teammates to do so in the future.
“It’s better for it, it’s better for it,” he told the Manchester Evening News when asked about the moment. “If you are focused, you can fight with your teammates as well, you need to make sure everyone is really sharp, but nothing happened. It’s part of football.
“He (Onana) has a big personality, he can play football, he can deal with the pressure, he’s really positive, he’s a leader. That’s the style of Manchester United.”
Martinez is back in a Manchester United shirt for the first time since he was ruled out for the remainder of last season with an ankle injury back in April – he even required surgery.
But this has not stopped him, with the Argentinian picking up right where he left off with his passionate and cleverly aggressive performances.
“When I play football, I give everything, I play like this – with passion,” he said.
“Because when I look at the badge, I represent this club. It’s amazing. All I can only give is my body and my heart and everything. I represent this club with my all and I hope all the players [do] as well.
“I feel fully fit now, I feel happy because I love football. It was really tough when you are out and you can’t do anything, you know? But now I’m ready and looking forward.
“I feel stronger than last season and I think also the team wants to show something different when the league starts. So we are fully positive and we feel really strong.”
