Rasmus Højlund is just days away from securing his move to Manchester United after Atalanta agreed to sell them Erik ten Hag’s no. 1 target.

Erik ten Hag has finally secured himself a striker for Manchester United‘s upcoming campaign, with the need for a talisman up front becoming ever-more present during pre-season.

Rasmus Højlund is set to sign for United for a fee of £60 million with a further £12m in add-ons to become their new Premier League striker.

At just 20 years of age, Højlund’s signing for such an amount of money represents a significant risk – but if it pays off, United may have secured one of the deadliest frontmen for years to come.

The Danish international has previously explained that he is a boyhood United fan and particularly admires former winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

“My father introduced him (Ronaldo) to me when he was at United, and then me and my best friend always followed him at Real Madrid,” he told Serie A.

“I just like his mentality, and I love that he is so eager to score goals, and that is really the thing for me – that he is so passionate about wanting to be the best – that is what I like about him.”

Højlund is expected to undergo his medical on Wednesday morning, with the player having arrived at Manchester Airport on Tuesday afternoon – his singing could be announced as early as Thursday evening, or Friday morning ahead of the club’s final pre-season friendlies.

United will play Lens at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon before travelling to Dublin to face Athletic Club on Friday.
