Liam Delap has finally copied Matheus Cunha’s unique stance on Manchester United transfer this summer

Liam Delap and Matheus Cunha are two of Manchester United’s priority targets to bolster Ruben Amorim’s squad in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Manchester United are planning to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s attacking options in the upcoming summer transfer window, as concerns persist over the team’s lack of goals this season.

While Alejandro Garnacho continues to show promise, he still lacks consistent end product, and Rasmus Højlund has struggled to make a decisive impact in the box.

Liam Delap has emerged as United’s top target to lead the line next season. The striker is available for £30 million after a release clause was activated following Ipswich Town’s relegation from the Premier League.

A Manchester City academy graduate, Delap has recorded 12 goals and two assists this season, and United are confident he has the potential to develop into a key figure at Old Trafford.

Delap has finally copied Cunha’s unique United stance

There are several top clubs keen on signing Delap this summer, with Chelsea being the strongest competitor to United.

However, the latest reports from Sky Sports have revealed that United are in pole position to sign the 22-year-old centre-forward.

Previous reports have claimed that Delap’s decision will be highly influenced by the potential of Champions League football. United can still secure that through winning the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

But the aforementioned Sky report also explained that Delap is now keen on a United move regardless of whether they are in Europe’s top competition next season or not.

That follows on from Matheus Cunha taking the same stance, with the Wolves star expected to join United in the summer no matter what happens in the Europa League final next week.

Amorim makes feelings clear on Champions League lure

Amorim has already made his feelings clear on players who would only join the club if they are in the Champions League next term.

Viktor Gyokeres, his former striker at Sporting, is reportedly only open to moving to United if they secure their place in UEFA’s elite competition and Amorim made his feelings clear on that.

“If a player only wants to come to Man United to play Champions League, then he won’t come,” he said last month. “We want players who want to represent United, not players who want to play certain competitions.”

The main appeal of securing Champions League football for United is through the financial benefits, but they have not usually had trouble attracting targets when outside of the competition in recent years, with the likes of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Bruno Fernandes all joining the club at a time where they were in the Europa League.
