Leny Yoro’s Man United injury leaves him “out for a while”, fears Erik ten Hag
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is fearful that Leny Yoro’s injury against Arsenal on Sunday will leave him out of action for an extended period.
Manchester United’s third pre-season fixture of 2024 yielded mixed results. They suffered a 2-1 defeat against Arsenal at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Rasmus Højlund opened the scoring with a powerful run and finish within the first 20 minutes, showcasing Erik ten Hag’s team’s sharpness and proactive play. Mason Mount emerged as a standout performer.
However, the momentum shifted when both Højlund and Leny Yoro had to leave the field in the first half due to injuries, ultimately leading to a 2-1 victory for the North London club.
“Of course, it is too short [to know about their injuries], and we have to wait over 24 hours, then we will hopefully know more,” Ten Hag said after the game.
“We were careful, especially with Leny [Yoro], as he only did 50 per cent of the [training] sessions. He has to come up, but let’s be positive and see what happens.”
However, reports from The Times on Sunday afternoon have stated that Ten Hag left the SoFi Stadium fearful that Yoro would be out for a “considerable period” due to the muscle injury sustained during the game.
It was further explained that while Højlund could be ruled out of Wednesday’s clash against Real Betis, his issue does not seem to be as serious as the one Yoro sustained.
The club is not expected to scan the injuries to see the full picture until Monday. The usual protocol is to wait a day for swelling to subside so that an accurate assessment can be obtained.
Yoro joined the club last Thursday in a deal worth up to £59 million from Lille. It was considered a brilliant signing, with Real Madrid also really keen on the player.
