Leny Yoro sends clear message to Ruben Amorim, he’s ready to fix Manchester United’s latest problem
Leny Yoro has been playing regularly under Ruben Amorim and is prepared to help fix Manchester United’s latest problem.
Manchester United secured the signing of Leny Yoro last summer from Lille in a surprise deal after beating Real Madrid to his signature.
It was a difficult start to life at Old Trafford for the teenager after he suffered an injury setback in pre-season which kept him out of action until November.
By that point, the manager who brought him in – Erik ten Hag – had been sacked and replaced by Ruben Amorim, who had implemented a new three-at-the-back formation.
Since returning from injury, Yoro has played the majority of his minutes on the right side but also operated on the left on occasion too.
Yoro sends clear message to Amorim about United problem
Amorim currently has a problem as his number one choice at left centre-back, Lisandro Martínez, has suffered an injury that will keep him out of action for the rest of the season.
The United boss will now be debating who is the best option to play in that position and he will also be considering the ball-playing impact there.
In a recent interview, Yoro has expressed his happiness to play on the left of the back three in what seems to be a clear message to his manager.
“Of course, I’m right-footed so it’s more easy for me sometimes on the right but I really like to play on the left,” explained Yoro on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel.
“Because when I come inside I can put a long-ball to the striker or [play into] the middle. It’s no problem for me.”
Yoro was also asked about how the team is adapting to the new style under Amorim with minimal time on the pitches at Carrington.
“We don’t have too much time to train so we do a lot of videos,” he added. “And when you have the time to train altogether he tries to give everything to us, a lot of tactical work.”
Yoro has now started seven games for United and made a further eight appearances from the bench.

Amorim has been sensible with how he’s introduced the teenager to the Premier League but the injury of Martínez could be the perfect time for him to break into the team as a regular starter.
Ayden Heaven has joined the club and could also be used in the position but has minimal experience and will likely be a backup.
The United boss could also use the likes of Noussair Mazraoui or Matthijs de Ligt on that left side of the defence, but it appears that the Frenchman is eager to prove himself there.
