Leny Yoro ‘reacts’ to Manchester United’s interest, Real Madrid could still “lose”
Leny Yoro has reportedly reacted to Manchester United’s interest in him as they face off against Real Madrid for the 18-year-old’s transfer.
With Manchester United attempting to secure multiple new centre-backs for Erik ten Hag this summer, they have been linked with a whole host of names across the market in Europe.
While the club has had two bids rejected for Jarrad Branthwaite, they are also said to be close to securing a deal for Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt. The 24-year-old Dutchman is keen to join Old Trafford.

However, the club’s most interesting pursuit is that of Leny Yoro. The 18-year-old Lille defender has exploded onto the scene as one of the best young centre-backs in Europe and has significant interest from United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Paris St. Germain.
However, a new report from Le Petit Lillois, a French outlet covering Lille, suggests that United and Madrid are the only two remaining significant suitors in the battle for Yoro.
The report states that, although Madrid have been leading the race for weeks, United have made important steps in recent days and are confident that their strength and size as a club and in their new project will make them an attractive destination for Yoro.
United’s growing interest in Yoro has been significant for him and those around him, who have been “touched” in reaction to the efforts being made by the Manchester outfit. Further, Le Petit Lillois also suggest that if Madrid do not step up soon, they could lose out on Yoro.
“The choices made by Real Madrid raise questions, and if its leaders continue their strategy and do not send their long-awaited and discussed final offer, it could lose the advantage by letting the young Lille player’s favours slip away, even with the support of Jorge Mendes (his agent),” the report reads.
United have already had Lille accept a bid for the player of around £40-50 million, and they are said to have the power to increase this offer should they need to.
It should also be noted that a recent report from L’Equipe claims that although Yoro is currently unsure of his final destination, he is not overly keen on playing in the Premier League.
United will have to do some serious convincing if they are to change his mind.
