Leny Yoro has been advised to sign for Manchester United over Real Madrid, with the Lille star “touched” by the efforts Erik ten Hag’s team have been making.

Manchester United are actively pursuing several new centre-backs for Erik ten Hag this summer, casting a wide net across Europe. Despite having two bids rejected for Jarrad Branthwaite, the club is reportedly nearing a deal for Bayern Munich‘s Matthijs de Ligt. The 24-year-old Dutch defender is eager to make the move to Old Trafford.

One of United’s most intriguing targets is Leny Yoro. The 18-year-old Lille defender has rapidly emerged as one of Europe’s top young centre-backs, attracting significant interest from not only Manchester United but also Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Yoro told to sign for United

Out of all the options that Yoro has, former France international and Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has told the 18-year-old to sign for United over Real Madrid this summer.

“For Leny Yoro, it’s a different league, a different level. Manchester United is more of a long-term project,” Silvestre told bettingexpert when asked which destination would be the better move.

“Real Madrid, they’re losing Nacho and have ageing centre-backs. At United, I think there’s more opportunity for Leny Yoro to come and play straight away with Lisandro Martinez. So I would say United is a better option.”

Yoro’s reaction to United

This comes after a report from Sunday afternoon detailed that Yoro and those around him have appreciated United’s efforts to convince him to choose Old Trafford over Madrid.

The report indicates that although Real Madrid has been leading the race for weeks, Manchester United has made significant strides in recent days. They are confident that their club’s strength, size, and new project will make them an appealing destination for Leny Yoro.

United’s growing interest has had a considerable impact on Yoro and his camp, who have been “touched” by the Manchester club’s efforts. It was then suggested that if Madrid doesn’t act soon, they could miss out on Yoro.

Lille has already accepted United’s bid of around £40-50 million, and the Premier League club are prepared to increase this offer if necessary.

It should also be noted that a recent report from L’Equipe claims that although Yoro is currently unsure of his final destination, he is not overly keen on playing in the Premier League. United will have to do some serious convincing if they are to change his mind.
