Leny Yoro has completed part one of Manchester United medical ahead of £52m transfer
Leny Yoro has completed his medical at Manchester United on Wednesday afternoon ahead of a proposed £52 million move from Lille.
Manchester United are determined to bolster their defence by signing multiple centre-backs this summer after a challenging season under Erik ten Hag, which saw them finish eighth in the Premier League and exit the Champions League by Christmas.
The team conceded over eighty goals across all competitions, frequently altering their defensive lineup due to injuries. This instability resulted in more than 30 different combinations across 52 matches in the 2023/24 season.

News broke on Wednesday morning that Manchester United had pretty much agreed to sign Leny Yoro from Lille after the Ligue 1 club agreed to a bid of £52 million plus a further £7.6 million in add-ons.
Although the 18-year-old originally preferred Real Madrid, it has been claimed that United’s warmth and willingness to let him make a decision in his own time helped him change his mind.
Fabrizio Romano claimed that Yoro was presented with a big wage package and the overarching project currently being created at Old Trafford, which convinced him to fly to Manchester on Wednesday morning.
Although it had been said that the deal wasn’t complete due to final details that needed to be sorted out between the club and Yoro, United’s ability to be flexible and act fast meant that these would not be a serious issue.
United wanted to complete the medical and contract details as quickly as possible so that there would be no more surprise twists in the saga, considering that Yoro is one of the most highly-rated and sought-after young defenders on the planet.
With all of this in mind, it has now been revealed by Romano that he has now completed the first part of his medical ahead of the move.
It is said that “more tests will follow”, but the deal has now been reached, and he can be considered a Manchester United player.
Yoro, standing at 6 feet and 3 inches, brings much-needed height to United’s backline following a season of inconsistency and failure to defend in the box. He has been likened to the departing Raphaël Varane, who was renowned for being one of the best box defenders of his generation.
