Manchester United are hoping to secure at least £40 million for Marcus Rashford this summer, after his agent was photographed meeting with club directors.
Manchester United’s summer revamp is moving quickly, with Rúben Amorim making swift and bold decisions as he prepares for his first full season in charge.
Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen, and Victor Lindelöf will all leave when their contracts expire next month. Alejandro Garnacho has reportedly been told he can find a new club, while Rasmus Højlund could also depart if a suitable offer is received.
Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia are also expected to be moved on, with the club hoping to raise over £100 million in sales to reinvest in the squad.
Amorim is prioritising additions in attack and midfield, aiming to add greater creativity, control, and physical dominance. With a clear plan and strong backing, United are pushing for a more athletic and dynamic squad capable of meeting the demands of Premier League football.
Rashford’s agent photographed in Spanish meeting
Amid the club’s desire to offload Rashford, he was sent on loan to Aston Villa in January in a bid to help the player rediscover his form, and therefore increase his value in the summer transfer window.
Villa had a £40 million buy option in the loan deal that they chose not to activate after failing to qualify for the Champions League next season, and Rashford is now free to find a new club in the 2025 window.
According to Spanish outlet Sport (via Sport Witness), Barcelona sporting director Deco met with Rashford’s agent in a hotel in the city on Wednesday morning, with the Spanish publication releasing a photo of said agent in the meeting, which can be viewed below.
However, it’s noted that while United are hoping to raise £40 million for the player this summer, Barcelona would rather secure the player on loan with an option to sign him in 2026.
Rashford wants his future sorted quickly
Although Sport claims that Rashford’s future may require patience for Barcelona to secure the terms they want, the player himself wants his future sorted soon.
According to transfer specialist Ben Jacobs, Rashford aims to have his future sorted by the middle of June, to head on holiday and then return immediately to his new club for pre-season.
Reports earlier this week indicated that all options are on the table regarding Rashford’s future at United. Amorim is expected to meet with Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox, and the recruitment team in the coming days, with Rashford’s situation set to be a key topic of discussion.
Amid the club’s current struggles, it’s believed that efforts to repair the relationship between Amorim and Rashford will be part of the agenda.
