Luke Shaw has been unavailable for Manchester United since their second game of the season due to a muscular injury.

The left-back suffered a disappointing setback during United’s 2-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in August.

He joined fellow defender Tyrell Malacia on the sidelines, which meant that the club had to sign Sergio Reguilon on a loan deal on deadline day.

There have since been problems in the position, after Reguilon also suffered an injury setback, with Sofyan Amrabat and Victor Lindelof both playing multiple times on the left side of defence.

Ten Hag explained when United returned from the international break in October that he did not expect Shaw to be fit during the block of fixtures until the next international break.

Before the latest game, where United won 1-0 against Fulham, information came out about the defender’s rehabilitation and timeline of his return to the squad.

The social media account Insider United – who had previously deactivated his account on X after leaking injury news that led to suspicions at United that the individual was connected to the club and had access to confidential information – has stated that the left-back is expected back ‘within the next couple of weeks’, with his rehab going ‘really well’.

United have two upcoming fixtures in the next week – against Copenhagen and Luton Town – and then do not play again until towards the end of the month after the November international break.

This could mean that Shaw is available to face Everton in that game on the 26 November.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has also returned from a lengthy injury this week, making his first start since mid-September against Fulham.
