Latest on Jadon Sancho’s Erik ten Hag talks with Manchester United in selection limbo
Jadon Sancho has held talks with Erik ten Hag after the player’s social media statement following Manchester United’s 3-1 Arsenal defeat.
Manchester United‘s international break has been one shrouded in controversy – the club has seen Antony take a step back from the squad due to domestic abuse allegations, while Jadon Sancho accused Erik ten Hag of withholding truths.
After the side lost 3-1 against Arsenal, Ten Hag stated that Sancho was not involved in the squad due to poor training levels, with the player releasing a statement after the game claiming he is being scapegoated and that his training levels were fine.

This then resulted in United receiving contact from several Saudi Pro League clubs about a move, and the club demanded a loan with a £50 million obligation to buy – which was ultimately rejected.
Jadon Sancho returned to the Carrington training ground for the first time since the outburst on Monday afternoon, re-entering the club’s training base at 12:30 pm and holding face-to-face talks with Ten Hag.
Chris Wheeler has explained to The United Stand that the pair have had discussions with each other in regards to the ongoing issues between them, and further talks are expected.
But, it was also stressed that the situation will not be resolved overnight, and it is unlikely that Sancho will play a part in United’s upcoming fixture against Brighton.
With Antony away from the squad and Sancho not likely to play, it remains to be seen who will start on the right on Saturday – it could provide Facundo Pellistri with the perfect chance to showcase his talents in the Premier League.
Pellistri was kept at the club this summer after initially being lined up for a loan move, with Ten Hag wanting the player to start playing a more serious role in his squad.
A loan move to Sheffield United was on the cards in order for Pellistri to gain Premier League experience, but with Sancho and Antony not currently available for selection, the club will no doubt be glad that they kept hold of the player.
Pellistri’s current contract runs until 2025, and the club are making a new long-term deal for the Uruguan a priority.
