Manchester United are looking to sell players this summer to generate cash for signings and they have recently received a transfer lifeline for one of their unwanted stars.
Manchester United will soon complete their second first-team signing of the summer after meeting Brentford’s valuation of Bryan Mbeumo with their latest bid.
He will join Matheus Cunha at Old Trafford, with the attacking pair costing the club just over £130 million. They should transform the attacking unit at the club, though.
For United, it has regularly been communicated that sales will need to be made for any further signings and the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are available for transfer.
Once these sales start to occur, then United will begin to try and address other problems within Amorim’s squad ahead of the new season.
United receive transfer lifeline for unwanted star
Despite there being five players clearly up for sale, United are also keen to sell others within the squad, including striker Rasmus Højlund.
The Dane has struggled at Old Trafford and those in charge would be willing to move him on as long as they receive a realistic offer.
It was recently revealed that Inter Milan, the most interested club in Højlund, had pulled out of the race after completing the signing of Ange-Yoan Bonny instead.
But the latest information from Gianluca Di Marzio has explained that in the last few hours of the market, AC Milan have contacted United to understand the conditions of a deal for Højlund.
After selling Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City earlier this summer, the Italian side likely still have money to play with and could be a realistic option for United’s underperforming striker.
United told targets they have to sell
United still want to sign more players this summer, with a centre-midfielder and striker being the main targets for Amorim’s men.
But it has been reported that the Reds have told their targets that they must sell before they buy, which puts all focus on these player exits now.
In truth, seeing Alejandro Garnacho depart the club for any figure above £50 million would immediately help in that aspect as his sale would offer pure profit on the books.
Otherwise, United will need to get creative as it doesn’t seem like they can get attractive offers for most of the other players up for sale.
