Kobbie Mainoo: When Man Utd midfielder will return from injury
Kobbie Mainoo has been out of action for a number of weeks following his breakout season for Manchester United.
The teenager has made four appearances for the first team this term. His debut came against Charlton in the Carabao Cup.
He was spotted at Old Trafford on Thursday evening as United confirmed their place in the Champions League next term with a 4-1 win over Chelsea. The 17-year-old was awarded the club’s Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year – the accolade that Alejandro Garnacho received last season.
“What a moment for me and my family and what a season it’s been,” wrote Mainoo on Instagram. “Unfortunate for it to have ended with an injury but I can’t wait to get back on the pitch.”
The English youngster has not been involved in a matchday squad since United’s FA Cup clash against Fulham on 13 March.
The club have not revealed details of the midfielder’s absence, however, UtdDistrict understands that the injury keeping him out of action is not serious and that he will be fit for the upcoming pre-season following the conclusion of this campaign.
United have two remaining games this term; one holds little significance, whilst the other is simply crucial.
Beating Fulham in their final Premier League fixture could secure United third place, but a top-four position is already guaranteed after their win against The Blues.
United will then travel to Wembley to face Manchester City in an all-important FA Cup final. Pep Guardiola’s side are chasing a treble, while United are looking to secure a domestic cup double in Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge at Old Trafford.
