Every game Kobbie Mainoo will miss as Manchester United injury return date revealed
Kobbie Mainoo is set to miss Manchester United’s next seven fixtures as Erik ten Hag must plan for life without the teenage star.
Manchester United have been unfortunate with injuries so far this season following the losses of several key players in the opening months of the last campaign.
Although the 2023/24 season was significantly worse for the club’s injury problems, so far, across 2024/25, multiple high-profile players such as Rasmus Højlund and Luke Shaw have been unavailable for Erik ten Hag.
Due to concerns during the recent international break, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Amad Diallo all had to pull out of their respective international fixtures. At the same time, Harry Maguire and Nossuair Mazraoui were also subject to problems against Aston Villa.
While Garnacho, Amad, and Mazraoui are all back in training, Maguire has been ruled out for several weeks, and a fresh update on Mainoo has seen the English midfielder suffer a similar fate.
What is Mainoo’s injury?
According to The Times, Mainoo suffered a hamstring injury against Aston Villa, where he played 85 minutes. Although initially called up to the England camp, he later had to withdraw.
Rumours earlier this week suggested that Mainoo may be ruled out for a few weeks, which the club confirmed on Thursday evening.
And now, The Times has further explained that Mainoo will miss the club’s next seven fixtures, which could rule him out until the end of November.
What are the games, and when can he return?
If Mainoo misses all seven games, he will miss four Premier League ties, two in the Europa League and one in the Carabao Cup.
Firstly, United will take on Brentford in the league before flying to Istanbul to face Fenderbache, currently managed by former Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho.
Once they return to England, they will travel to East London to face West Ham United before returning to Manchester and welcoming Leicester City to Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup.
This will conclude October’s fixtures, with a crunch clash against Chelsea at Old Trafford on 3 November taking place at Old Trafford, with the club playing a third game in a row at their ground four days later against PAOK.
Finally, United will play Leicester City again at Old Trafford, this time in the Premier League, which is the final fixture before the November international break.
Should Mainoo miss all seven of these ties, he would not resume with the squad until after the international fixtures. Therefore, his United return date would be 24 November, when the club travel to face newly promoted Ipswich Town.
