Serie A giants Juventus have reportedly initiated contacts to sign Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund on a loan deal this summer.
Manchester United have endured a turbulent season under Rúben Amorim, with one of the most pressing concerns being their ongoing struggles in front of goal.
Despite creating chances, United have consistently failed to convert them, with multiple attacking players suffering extended goal droughts that have cost the team valuable points.
Among those under the spotlight is Rasmus Højlund, who went 22 games without scoring before breaking the streak with a superb finish against Leicester City just before the international break. He followed that up with a confidence-boosting goal for Denmark in their clash with Portugal.
While doubts still linger around the 22-year-old’s long-term role at the club, Amorim has continued to back the young striker, showing faith in his potential even during the most difficult stretches of the season.
Juventus looking for a ‘low-cost deal’
Following Fabrizio Romano’s Youtube video on Thursday confirming that both Napoli and Juventus looked to show some interest in the Danish forward, it looks like Juventus have stepped up their interest in the striker.
TuttoSport have revealed that the Turin club have now carried out exploratory contacts with Højlund’s entourage for what they feel would be a ‘low-cost deal’.
They also reported that Juventus would most likely take the Denmark international on a paid loan with an option to buy, but no concrete movements have been made yet.
Juventus are keen to have the option of having Højlund in their squad for the Club World Cup, which gets underway in just over two months.
A Big Summer Reshuffle
Højlund is the latest to join the list of potential players that United could look to move on in the Summer.
Manchester United will be looking for a much needed strengthening of the attack, with one of Højlund or Joshua Zirkzee making way.
United would prefer to keep Zirkzee, with the possibility of the club getting a better deal for the Dane more likely.
This coming summer will be critical in shaping United’s future.
