Joshua Zirkzee ‘working to bring in-form forward’ to Manchester United, INEOS already like him

Joshua Zirkzee has reportedly been helping convince an in-form forward to join Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are continuing their hunt for reinforcements in the forward positions ahead of the Summer Transfer window.

With Antony and Marcus Rashford looking likely to move away from the club at the end of the season, the hunt is on for left-sided forwards to bolster the squad.

One player who has recently been linked to joining United is Dan Ndoye. The Swiss Bologna winger plays off the left and is seen as a good fit for Ruben Amorim’s squad.

In a positive update, it now seems that Joshua Zirkzee has joined the effort to bring Ndoye to the club.

Zirkzee and Ndoye’s history

Ndoye and Zirkzee shared just one season together at Bologna. Still, under Thiago Motta’s stewardship, the pair helped the Italian side achieve a 5th place finish and Champions League qualification for the first time in 60 years.

During his time at Bologna, Zirkzee had a firm friendship with Ndoye. The pair were spotted numerous times at Virtus Bologna, the Italian top-flight Basketball side.

Zirkzee was also featured in Ndoye’s Instagram story when the former joined United in the summer. The post shows the pair posing in their Bologna kits before Zirkzee’s departure.

New reports coming from La Gazzetta dello Sport reported via Sport Witness are suggesting that Zirkzee is using this friendship in order to try and convince the Swiss forward to join the club.

Ndoye has history with INEOS

Ndoye wouldn’t only be reconnecting with Zirkzee if he was to join United in the summer; he would also be reuniting with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS.

The Swiss winger has extensive experience with INEOS clubs. Ndoye came through the FC Lausanne-Sport youth system when INEOS took over the Swiss side in 2017. After purchasing a stake in French side Nice, INEOS made Ndoye their seventh club signing in their first January transfer window.

Clearly, Ndoye was a player well regarded by INEOS, and with his recent form for Bologna, that is unlikely to have changed. Since the start of February, Ndoye has contributed the most goals of any player in Serie A with five goals and three assists, with his last goal being an equaliser against title-challenging Napoli.

INEOS were clearly fans of Ndoye, having him progress from FC Lausanne-Sport to Nice, and it wouldn’t be unlikely to see them go back in for the winger. Having his Bologna friend and colleague already in the United side and trying to entice him in might be the crucial element in enticing the player.
