Joshua Zirkzee sends clear message after Napoli approach as Man Utd chiefs provide huge compliment to 43-goal star

Joshua Zirkzee has sent a clear message after Napoli approached the Manchester United forward. The United chiefs have provided a huge compliment to the 43-goal star.

Manchester United’s summer has been predominantly focused on eradicating any goalscoring concerns that were raised from last season’s misfiring in front of goal.

Ruben Amorim’s side have signed a new-look front three in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko, whilst seemingly cutting ties with the majority of their other forwards.

With only 44 goals in the Premier League last season, the Reds have looked to move on from attackers such as Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Højlund, Antony and Jadon Sancho.

This being said, one forward who has been kept in the picture is Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutch striker was recently approached by Napoli for a move, but a clear message has now been sent.

Zirkzee’s message to United

According to a post on X by respected football journalist Sam C, Zirkzee has no plans to leave United before the deadline of the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have no desire to let their 23-year-old forward leave this summer either. It is understood that some of the higher-ups at the club think that Zirkzee has a similar ceiling to new signing Cunha.

As well as this, the post also states that Højlund may leave before the deadline, with numerous clubs interested in the Danish international.

Evidently, Zirkzee is the favoured option of the two young forwards and seems to be far more suited to the way that Amorim wants to play in this new season.

Amorim’s forward options

With the plan being that Zirkzee stays at United, we can now see exactly what options Amorim has at his disposal for the 2025/26 league season.

Both Cunha and Bruno Fernandes can play as the left ten, whilst Amad and Mbeumo share the right ten, leaving Sesko and Zirkzee to compete for the striker spot.

As the Reds only have domestic competitions to focus on this season, the above should provide a sufficient amount of depth, not to mention the abundance of quality.

Clearly Amorim has a plan regarding his forward line that he is firmly sticking to, and hopefully for the Reds it warrants the success that they have been waiting for.
